People can get to Halong bay from Hanoi by:
1. Helicopter, flight time 1 hour, cost
US$210 return. Available only on Saturday.
2. Private A/C car,
drive time 3 hours and half one way.
3. Limousine car, drive time 3 hours and half
one way, cost US$240 one way/trip.
4. By public bus, 4-6 hours pending on how
many stops en route the drive would make to pick
up/drop off passengers. Fare around US$5-7.
5. By train, people take cargo train from
Hanoi to Yenvien and then to QuangNinh. The terminal
is about 50km away from the habor. Expect train
delay, cancellation without notice. Available hard
sleeper only
